Fathom Forensic Accounting LLC is a Georgia CPA firm that specializes in fraud prevention, detection, and investigation. Fathom delivers individualized services to every client with integrity and excellence. We understand the challenges facing small to mid-size churches, private schools, nonprofit organizations, and closely-held businesses and are committed to making forensic accounting services accessible to you.
Fathom Forensic Accounting, LLC is led by Joan O’Dowd, a former FBI Forensic Accountant with over 12 years of investigative, for-profit, nonprofit, and government accounting experience. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) who educates and equips clients to protect themselves against fraud, conducts fraud investigations, and assists in seeking justice and restitution.
Internal and external threats to small and mid-size organizations continue to increase, both in magnitude and in sophistication. According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), CFEs estimate that organizations lose five percent of revenue to fraud annually. Internal threats, also known as occupational fraud, include asset misappropriation, such as theft, payment schemes, and skimming, as well as corruption. External threats include investment scams, advanced fee schemes, and business email compromise.
Fathom provides in-person, customized fraud prevention training for small to mid-size businesses, churches, private schools, and nonprofit organizations. We conduct interactive and relevant training that is tailored to each client. We educate management, staff, and volunteers on detecting potential fraud by understanding red flags, and on preventing and deterring fraud through effective internal controls.
Fathom investigates allegations and suspicions of fraud and other matters by planning and executing sensitive financial investigations. We identify, examine, analyze, and present voluminous, complex financial data in simplified format. We conduct witness interviews and unravel sophisticated techniques for moving funds and disguising assets.
